Trillium Foundation Recognition

On Friday October 22, 2004, Hugh Garner Co-op received a plaque in recognition of the Trillium Foundation's support of the co-op's Green Roof Project.

At the media event, a plaque was presented by Mr. Robin Cardozo, CEO of the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The architects and planners who were on hand answered questions about the project.

Also present were Hugh Garner's MPP, The Honourable George Smitherman, Minister of Health for Ontario, Pam McConnell Councilor for Ward 28 of the City of Toronto, and other community leaders and involved co-op members.

The event took place in the party room at Hugh Garner Co-op.

Completion of Phase 1

On September 21, 2006, residents of the 8-story Hugh Garner Co-op building, joined by Deputy Mayor Joe Pantalone, Architect Monica Kuhn and Alex Waugh, Chair of the Ontario Trillium Foundation local Grant Review Team, marked a milestone with the completion of Phase 1 of Canada’s largest residential green roof, and the beginning of its second phase.
